My daughter and I were ta lking about potential summer trips since this will be the summer after her graduation. She’s convinced everything will be closed. The backup plan m ight be to get a beach house for a week. That is, if the beaches are open. I guess we could always go to Florida.

Our daughter’s 18th was a bit of a non-event at home . She didn’t want a party, but she did go have dinner with a bunch of her friends. I think she was taking the adulting thing a little too seriously.
It wasn’t until recently that she tried using her age to get what she wants. We reminded her that she’s welcome to have anything and everything she can afford as soon as she moves out and gets a job....

Try the Minecraft RTX beta and try Imagination Island?
Looks close enough, though kind of dark sans raytracing:
You could also try Planet Coaster for your virtual theme park needs, though while pretty it’s a bit joyless. You might be better served with Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

Joking aside, South Walton (FL) is one of the best beach spots anywhere in the country. And I suspect FL will be open as early as anyone will be, given their recent history. It’s typically thick with TX/LA plates, if that says anything about its popularity. Just avoid Destin, Ft. Walton, and Panama City unless you just love crowds...
The downside is normally that all the good stuff for the summer is booked up by March, but I suspect this year will be different...

Sorry, bud. No Disney right now. They just furloughed most of their park cast members as well.

Yep, it stinks. My daughter’s senior prom is cancelled and it looks like IF they have a graduation ceremony it will likely get pushed into August. She’s also missing out on the art show the school’s art department puts on each year. It should have been a big show for her since she’s in Art Portfolio this year. All down the drain. :(
Honestly, I have an IT job and work from home. I’m mostly anti-social so staying at home hasn’t affected me that much. But it’s killing me to see how it’s impacting my wife and daughter.

I was supposed to be in Wyoming in June and the lodge, owned by the park service, canceled it. My girlfriends PCS to California was delayed for a month by the Navy too.
I turned 45 yesterday. I was lucky enough to spend it with my girlfriend, but had socially distant cake with my folks on the back porch. I didn’t even see my son except for in face time since his mom was potentially exposed and had to quarantine.
Not exactly a banner spring.

cheers mate :)
tbh..i think 18 here and 21 there are about the same.....legal drinking age
tho...at 21 you do finally get the full minimum wage at least for working..(15 year olds basically work for peanuts)

Some beaches in Florida have already opened. We were watching an interview where the beachgoers themselves were admitting to their lack of social distancing.
My boss rents a beach house in Destin every summer. I wonder if he will go this year.
My wife is from south Texas, so she and her family like to get a house on Padre Island. I’ve been to both Florida and Texas beaches. Hands down, Florida beaches are much nicer.

I turned 40 on March 14th. The weekend they started shutting everything down here in the midwest .
I haven’t seen a big time comic in my entire life, and since Gabriel Iglesias was to perform in Chicago ON MY BIRTHDAY, we had plans to go see him.
The venue cancelled the event two days before.
Then everything got shut down.
I still haven’t celebrated.

We have reservations for the middle of June. We’re not bailing yet, but it’s not looking good.

April 1.
Dad: “Come on kids, our Disney trip is still on! We’ve gotta get packing!”
*Kids load everything into the car*
Dad: “This trip is gonna be amazing, I promise.”
*Dad is about to leave the neighborhood and turns around in the amenities parking lot.”
Dad: “April Fools!”

At least your departure date was far enough in advance that cancellation didn’t really hurt. If people are gonna be scared of going to Disney this year because “the COVID,” that makes me want to book a trip. Cheap trips are better than no trips, especially if there’s hysteria about getting sick. Even though Kemp is allowing stuff to open, some people don’t want to go places. I personally think “hey, I can see what getting a mani-pedi is like!”
My sister’s friend had her wedding canceled two weeks before it was supposed to happen. That really sucked. She didn’t cancel it, but the venue did.
